Learning in the World (LITW) reflects Andover’s commitment to educating global citizens. With programs in diverse regions of the world, LITW gives students the chance to participate in an in-depth, off-campus learning experience that engages them directly with different practices and perspectives, history, arts, and surprising and enlightening encounters in new cultures. Students expand their worldview, gaining a sense of our world’s complexity and the skills essential to thrive in it.
LITW lets students choose from a range of structured, experiential learning opportunities that enrich their on-campus studies. Andover students are encouraged to explore our current offerings and to apply to participate in an opportunity in the United States or in another region of the world.
Students may also request to be part of our Global Ambassadors Program. We select a group of diverse, dedicated, and enthusiastic LITW alumni to serve as “ambassadors” (or representatives), not only of the program in which they were part of, but also of all the LITW programs. A Global Ambassador promotes the concept of global citizenship and the importance of civic responsibility, empathy, and engagement beyond our cultural and national borders. Interested students may contact Carmen Muñoz Fernandez.
Throughout the year, there are a variety of avenues for faculty members to contribute to, participate in, and lead programs. If you are interested in participating in or leading a LITW program, please contact Carmen Muñoz Fernandez.
Partnerships represent a core element of LITW programming, as thoughtful collaboration inspires the development of individual programs. Around the globe, those affiliated with schools, businesses, social enterprises, non-governmental organizations, and public entities provide insight into the content of LITW programming, participate in and lead community discussions, and enhance the overall experience for students and faculty.
