Outward Bound is a non-profit educational organization and expedition school that serves people of all ages and backgrounds through active learning expeditions that inspire character development, self-discovery and service both in and out of the classroom. Outward Bound established its first sea-based school on the coast of Maine in 1964. Hurricane Island, a remote island approximately 75 miles northeast of Portland, served as the summer base camp for sailing, sea kayaking, and rock climbing programs. Building on the success of the sea-based programs, Outward Bound eventually added a mountain base in Newry, Maine, the starting point for a backpacking, climbing, and canoeing programs stretching all the way into the Rangeley Lakes region.
INESLE Madrid is a Spanish Institute which offers students the possibility of spending the month of July in Madrid while learning about the Spanish language, culture and everyday life. Students engage in interactive classes in the mornings as well as diverse afternoon activities including sports, cultural visits and community engagement. Undoubtedly, one of the most enjoyable experiences in the program is the Saint James’ walk, a four-day pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela located in the northwest of Spain. In the Spanish culture, the warmth and closeness of families play an essential role. Thus, INESLE students live a four-week experience in a host family with children their age which not only contributes to their language learning progress, but also establishes long-lasting ties. This is a unique opportunity to truly live like a Spaniard!
